Case Studies
Cooling of Power Tools Batteries
Battery Packs of power tools are usually passive cooled. Q-Bat coupled with MATLAB Simulink allowed defining a complex electric current load and get the time evolution of 3-D temperature distribution.
Valeo simulates thermal shock in radiators in less than an hour.
Engine radiators experience large temperature gradients after engine start-up. The previous CFD calculation workflow at Valeo required 48 hours of simulation on 100 processor cores. We have implemented simulation model which reduced computation time to 1 hour on a PC.
Warsaw University of Technology prolongs campus-wide license and teaches e-mobility
Warsaw University of Technology, the best technical university in Poland, adopts Q-Bat for teaching e-mobility and battery cooling simulations. Students learn how to simulate EV battery behaviour in MATLAB and Simulink
This means that all students and professors at the university can use Q-Bat in their research projects, theses, and other academic work.
Canadian Student Team optimizes Formula Student battery cooling
A student team at Laval University in Quebec used the CFD Toolbox for MATLAB to optimize the battery pack cooling for their Formula Student vehicle.
University of California, Los Angeles uses CFD Toolbox for MATLAB
A PhD student uses the QuickerSim CFD Toolbox for MATLAB with customized models and boundary conditions for his PhD research.
Industrial Ventilation
Airflow with dust particles may lead to blockage of the valves or inlet manifolds. We have carried out such an analysis for our British customer to help solve the problem.
HVAC of an Operating Room
The HVAC system of an OR in a hospital needs to provide thermal comfort and clean, fresh air. We have helped check the HVAC design for one of the hospitals in the EU.
Biomedical Simulation
QuickerSim has calculated shear forces on pancreatic cells during the 3-D bioprinting process. Flow through the printer's needle has been computed and wall shears calculated.
